Why we build in PVC.
Three properties matter above all for bird husbandry: it stays clean, it stays dry, and it stays the same shape. Structural PVC does all three.
| Property | PVC (KPVC) | Metal | Wood |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rust | None — non-metallic | Prone to rust at joints | N/A |
| Hygiene | Wipes clean, non-porous | Traps residue at welds | Absorbs, hard to sterilise |
| Weatherproof | UV-stable, sealed | Coatings degrade | Rots, warps |
| Dimensional stability | Stable across temp/humidity | Expands / contracts | Warps with moisture |
| Cleaning agents | Broad chemical tolerance | Corrodes with some | Damaged by many |
| Longevity | Decades, if maintained | Varies with coating | Years, needs re-treating |
Hygienic
Non-porous surface, sealed joints. Wipes down in seconds; broad tolerance for cleaning agents.
Weatherproof
UV-stable, sealed seams, indoor and out. No coating to fail, no timber to rot.
Precise
CNC-cut panels hold tight tolerances so doors align, panels sit flat, and finish looks intentional.
